We are currently designing a house in Ireland which is located on a family farm, in Largonboy in County Mayo. Currently the site has a typical stone family house and 'cow shed' positioned on it which dates back 250+ years. Our intention is to position the new house hidden behind the existing buildings, with the new house accessed by walking through the existing 'cow shed'. Our initial design has taken an aesthetic cue from the internal layout of the existing cow shed which had a number of bays for the cows, separated by small concrete thin walls. These are referenced in the thin evenly divided columns of the new concrete house. The form the building and layout are also influenced by the existing family house.
